If you’re a busy mum, chances are you don’t have a lot of time to waste.
Sure, counting calories can help you lose weight. But it’s also a huge time-suck. You have to measure and track everything you eat, which takes a lot of effort and planning. And let’s be honest, most of us don’t stick to it for very long.
I know you’re busy. I am too. And while we both have a lot on our plates, we don’t have time to waste counting calories.
Let me explain:
1) When you count calories, it takes the focus off of what’s important – your health and wellness. You should be focusing on the foods that make you feel good and help you live an active lifestyle. Instead of thinking about how many calories are in a cupcake or how many grams of fat are in a slice of pizza, think about what makes your body feel good!
2) It doesn’t work long term—We all know that diets don’t work long term—they just lead us back into bad habits after we regain whatever weight we lost when we started eating “right” again (which is usually only temporary). So why bother with them at all?
But what if there was an easier way? There is! Eat lots of different fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, healthy fats—and don’t forget to drink plenty of water! It’s all about balance: when you start to feel hungry between meals or notice yourself getting bloated after certain foods, that’s your cue that something isn’t right with your diet.
So stop counting calories and start focusing on what really matters: Eating what you want that makes you feel good!
